The DCTUK Story
Flooring that ain't boring
Ever wondered how we came to be? Grab a brew, hit play, and let us walk you through the DCTUK story so far.
Still a family-run business today, we're proud to be based in Liverpool, supplying residential and commercial customers across the UK and Europe. From a single bedroom to international names like Eddie Stobart and Marriott Hotels, we deliver flooring solutions to many different industries and sectors.
How it all unfolded
From a lightbulb moment on the couch to a Liverpool HQ and beyond — here are the milestones that got us here.
2007
The start of something extraordinary
Back in 2007, our Managing Director Dean had a lightbulb moment while kicking back on the couch — and that was it. With the help of his lovely wife Jess, we received our very first order that summer. The rest is history.
2009 – 2012
Welcome some very important people
By 2009 we were supporting military bases across the UK with quality flooring for barracks and soldier accommodation. By 2012 we were proudly working with Cancer Research UK after securing a national contract for their stores.
2013
A brand new base in Burscough
Until October 2013 our HQ sat between Liverpool and Leeds — but world domination was creeping closer, so we moved into a swanky new warehouse in Burscough, building a loyal base of clients and acclaimed suppliers.
Say hello to some more DCTUK VIPs
In September 2014 we added Eddie Stobart — the UK's largest haulage company — to our portfolio, supplying carpet tiles for their depots and offices. Before year's end we'd fitted a prolific project for Manchester Airport's Concorde Hangar.
Supply & fit, all in one place
In 2015 we officially launched our nationwide fitting service — because customers wanted flooring supplied and fitted in one place, from one trusted team. It started out serving both residential and commercial customers, and today we focus solely on commercial projects.
Nov 2015
Moving to Liverpool City Centre
In November 2015 we signed for a brand new office in Liverpool's historical Cotton Exchange. Once home to the city's booming cotton trade, it's a match made in heaven as we continue pleasing customers with modern wool-based carpet tiles.
2017
Moving to Aintree
DCTUK just won't stop growing! In April 2017 we moved to our current office in Aintree — home of the racecourse — perfectly placed between DPD, Royal Mail and our local palette carriers, so we can keep supplying amazing products at low prices.
2019
We rebranded to DCTUK
Since day one our website had been discountcarpettiles.net — a bit of a mouthful that no longer represented us. Our low pricing was a key USP, but we were never a discount shop; we provided top-quality products and services, and our customers already called us DCT. So we became DCTUK and moved to www.dctuk.com.
2023
New London showroom
Opening in February 2023, our London showroom is the place for consultations and exploring samples from the world's leading flooring suppliers. We keep over 500 samples here for customers to drop in and take away — as well as a game of pool with our team!
Europe-wide operations
A history in cotton trading
Once the busiest port in the world, Liverpool has a heritage at the centre of the global trade in yarn. Traders would meet at the Cotton Exchange (still standing today) and telephone New York, Bremen and Bombay.
Technology has moved on since then. These days our carpet tiles are made from hard-wearing synthetic yarns — nylon and polypropylene — chosen for their durability and longevity rather than the cotton and wool of the trade's early days.
