How to fit BerryAlloc LVT flooring
BerryAlloc are Belgian and their click systems are genuinely quick — they reckon 12m² in half an hour once you're going. There's one thing to know though: Pure Click goes together short side first, which is the opposite of nearly everything else.

What you’ll need to fit BerryAlloc luxury vinyl tiles
- Stanley knife, and a jigsaw for awkward cuts
- Metal straight edge
- Tape measure and pencil
- Spacers
- Pull bar
- No hammer — BerryAlloc say don't
Before you start
48 hours in the unopened boxes
Leave them flat, stacked no more than five boxes high, at 18–25°C.
Check the floor is flat
BerryAlloc give two numbers for Pure Click: no more than 3mm of variation per metre, and no more than 2mm within any 20cm. That second one is unusual and worth checking — a small local dip matters.
Soft floors come up
Carpet and needlefelt have to go. Pure Click can go over concrete, tiles, wood and existing hard floors as long as they're smooth and clean.
Underlay is optional
None is needed. BerryAlloc's own DreamTec+ underlay is there if you want extra sound reduction. Spirit 'Click Comfort' ranges already have acoustic backing attached.
How to fit BerryAlloc luxury vinyl tiles, step by step
Plan the first and last rows
Both first and last rows need to be at least 5cm wide. Measure the room, divide by the plank width, and trim the first row if the last one would come out too narrow.
Leave the expansion gap
8mm for Pure Click, 5mm for DreamClick — all round, and around columns, pipes and thresholds too.
PURE CLICK: short side first
This is the one that catches people out. With Pure Click you click the SHORT side first, then the long side. Most floors are the other way round.
DREAMCLICK: slide then lift
With DreamClick, slide the planks towards each other flat on the floor, then lift the outer edge to about 20° and lower it back down to lock. They click in any orientation, so there's no sorting to do.
Never use a hammer
BerryAlloc are clear: no hammer on their vinyl ranges. If it won't go together, something's misaligned — don't force it. (Their DuoLoc laminate is the exception and does allow a tapping block and hammer.)
Stagger the end joints
Pure Click: at least 30cm for planks, 20cm for tiles. DreamClick: at least 25cm, which BerryAlloc helpfully describe as three click elements — so you can count rather than measure.
Cut with a knife or a jigsaw
Score and snap for straight cuts, jigsaw for pipes and awkward shapes.
Know your maximum area
Pure Click covers up to 20m x 20m without a break. DreamClick goes to 15m x 15m, and DreamClick Pro to 10m x 10m. Beyond that you need an expansion profile.
Finish up
Take the spacers out, fit skirting or scotia to the wall, sweep, then clean twice with water and a neutral cleaner.

The BerryAlloc bits that catch people out
Short side before long side
Only on Pure Click, and it's genuinely the opposite of most systems. If it feels wrong, you're probably doing it right.
Two flatness numbers, not one
3mm per metre AND no more than 2mm within any 20cm. Most brands only give the first.
Underfloor heating has a wattage limit
Max 27°C at the surface, and BerryAlloc also cap electric systems at 60W per square metre. Worth checking if you've got electric mats.
Only 24 hours of heating off
Shorter than most brands — off 24 hours before and during, then back up at 5°C a day.
Mistakes to avoid
- Clicking the long side first on Pure Click.
- Using a hammer on the vinyl ranges.
- Ignoring the 2mm-per-20cm local flatness rule.
- Running past the maximum area for your range without an expansion profile.
- Forgetting the gap around pipes and thresholds, not just walls.

How do BerryAlloc Pure Click planks go together?
Short side first, then the long side — the opposite of most click floors. Angle them in and lower them flat; no hammer.
What gap do I leave for BerryAlloc flooring?
8mm for Pure Click, 5mm for DreamClick, all the way round including around pipes, columns and thresholds.
Do I need underlay with BerryAlloc LVT?
No. It's optional, and their DreamTec+ underlay is there purely for sound reduction. Spirit Click Comfort ranges have it built in already.
Can BerryAlloc go over ceramic tiles?
Yes, as long as they're smooth, sound and clean. You don't have to take them up.
How big an area can BerryAlloc cover without a break?
Pure Click up to 20m x 20m, DreamClick up to 15m x 15m, DreamClick Pro up to 10m x 10m. Bigger than that needs an expansion profile.
