Healey Junior, Infant and Nursery School

When Healey Junior, Infant & Nursery School in Batley brought DCTUK in, the brief covered a big chunk of the school: over 250m² of tired carpet on a concrete subfloor, all needing to come out and be replaced with something built for years of school life.

DCTUK's specialist fitting team ran the project from survey through to sign-off. The old carpet was uplifted and disposed of — using the school's own skip on site — and the concrete subfloor was primed, screeded and levelled with Ardex Feather Finish before being overlaid with plyboard for a smooth, solid base.

On top went Balsan Elite Gluedown 55 in Jive Honey, a warm, honey-toned LVT, laid by our fitters in a crisp straight herringbone pattern and bonded down with Bostik STIX A640 pressure-sensitive adhesive for a finish built to last. Capping, coving and trims tidied up every edge.

The install was split into two stages to work around the school's calendar: the main fit went in over the summer holidays in late August, with our team pushing to get the bulk of the floor down before the new term started, followed by a return visit in mid-September to finish trims and clear any final snags. Furniture was kept clear throughout and the heating stayed on during fitting — so the school never had to shut a classroom to get it done.
