Infinity Plus Services

Infinity Plus Services came to us with a room on the second floor of ICS London's secondary campus near Paddington. ICS London is an international IB school, and its Star Street building is a Victorian property, which brings both character and a few challenges when it comes to new flooring.

The room was around 27m², and the client wanted Forbo vinyl. We specified Forbo Sphera Energetic, a homogeneous vinyl built for heavy-traffic spaces like schools. Its colour and pattern run through the full thickness of the material, so it keeps looking good as it wears.

The main challenge was underneath. The subfloor was the building's original timber boards. Old floorboards move, have gaps between them and are rarely flat, and every joint and nail head would show through a thin vinyl floor before long. So before anything else went down, we overlaid the boards with ten sheets of 6mm plywood, fixed with collated spot nails to give a firm, even surface. We then used feather finish to smooth over the joints between the sheets, giving the vinyl a perfectly flat base.

With the subfloor ready, we laid the Forbo Sphera Energetic on Bostik A300 adhesive and heat-welded the seams with matching weld rod. That gives a sealed, seamless floor that's easy to keep clean and stands up to the daily wear of a busy school.

Being on the second floor of a Victorian building, everything had to be carried up by hand. We planned the delivery and the fitting around that. The installation took place in late February 2026, and the project was signed off in early March.

Small rooms in older buildings are a good reminder that preparation is what makes a floor last. Taking the time to overlay the boards properly means ICS London now has a smooth, hard-wearing floor that will look good for years.
