New Carpet Tiles and Safety Vinyl for J & A Brokers Ltd, Trafford House, Manchester

J & A Brokers Ltd needed new flooring for their offices at Trafford House in Old Trafford, Manchester. The existing carpet tiles had come to the end of their life, and the team wanted a smart, hard-wearing floor for the main office plus a practical, slip-resistant finish for a smaller wet-use area.

We started by lifting around 143m² of old carpet tiles. All the old flooring was cleared from site and taken away for disposal, so the client didn't have to deal with any waste.

The main office area was laid with Tarkett Desert AC89 9516 carpet tiles. Desert is a dependable commercial range that holds up well to heavy daily foot traffic, and carpet tiles keep future maintenance simple: if one area gets damaged or stained, single tiles can be swapped out without disturbing the rest of the floor.

For the 18m² hard-floor area, we used Forbo Surestep in 171922 Concrete, a safety vinyl that gives sustained slip resistance and a clean, modern look. Before laying it, our fitters feather-finished the subfloor so the vinyl would sit smooth and flat, with no lumps or ridges showing through later on.

The fitting itself was done in a single day, with an extra labourer on site to speed up the uplift and keep things moving. Because the install was fast and well-planned, the office was back in action almost straight away instead of losing several days to building work.

It's a good example of the smaller office projects we take on every week: a mix of carpet tiles and safety vinyl, proper subfloor prep, and a tidy, quick install that keeps disruption to a minimum.
