Globalls

We recently completed a large-scale commercial flooring installation at Globalls, an indoor mini golf venue in Weymouth, Dorset — a project spanning more than 600m² of floor space across two floors, plus three separate staircases.

The course winds across the ground floor and first floor through ramps, tight turns and changes of level, which meant our fitters were working with a lot of bespoke cuts rather than straightforward runs of carpet — a genuinely "special fit" job, with the tiles laid up ramps and bent around the course itself. The work was carried out in stages alongside the venue's wider fit-out, with our team returning to complete the fire escape staircase once that area of the building was ready.

The chosen product was Nouveau Elements II in The Darkness — a hardwearing carpet tile well suited to high-traffic leisure environments — laid as a straight-lay fit throughout. For the staircases, we fitted Gradus stair nosings with photoluminescent inserts, which glow in the dark. It's a genuinely useful safety feature on any staircase, and it happens to suit an indoor mini golf course down to the ground. In total, over 70 linear metres of glow-in-the-dark nosing were fitted across the main staircases and the separate fire escape stairwell.

Subfloor preparation was carried out on the existing concrete base, with Feather Finish used to level areas ahead of fitting. Carpet tiles were secured using a mix of tackifier and contact spray adhesive to suit the different substrate conditions across the site, with taped seams throughout. As with all our larger contracts, materials were delivered kerbside ahead of each fitting date to keep the site moving.
