Gym spaces have come a long way. What was once an afterthought is increasingly a considered space, designed with as much care as the rest of the building. DCTUK recently completed a larger flooring project for Liftd Design, a London-based interior design firm, covering multiple spaces across their Wimbledon property. One highlight of that wider project was a dedicated private gym — where the brief was clear: a floor that performs under pressure and still looks the part.
The product specified was Gerflor Creation 55 Gluedown in Charming Oak Beige 1278 — a commercial-grade luxury vinyl tile with a 0.55mm wear layer, designed for environments with heavy footfall and active use. At 18 m², the space is compact but purpose-built, and the warm beige oak tone gives it a refined finish that sits well away from the industrial aesthetic of a typical gym floor.
Gerflor's Creation 55 collection is one of the most trusted commercial LVT ranges on the market. Its ultra-matt, velvet-touch surface resists scuffs and marks effectively, making it a practical choice for a space that will see regular equipment use, weights, and foot traffic over time. The gluedown format also ensures complete stability underfoot — no movement, no creaking, no lifting at the edges.
Before installation, thorough subfloor preparation was carried out. This included the application of Bostik Screedmaster SL C540 Flow self-levelling compound to achieve a flat, smooth base, followed by Bostik Screedmaster A526 Universal Primer and Bostik STIX A640 Pressure Sensitive Adhesive to ensure a strong, lasting bond between floor and substrate.
The result is a gym floor that's built to last — and one that reflects the considered approach to interiors that Liftd Design brings to every project they work on.
