105m² of Polyflor SaarFloor Noppe rubber stud tiles laid over an indoor cricket surface at the University of Brighton's Sport and Health Complex for Koop Furniture.
Koop Furniture came to us with an unusual brief for the Sport and Health Complex at the University of Brighton's Falmer campus. The area was in use as an indoor sports facility, and the new floor had to go straight on top of the existing indoor cricket playing surface. Their first question was simple: is that even possible?
It was. The existing floor was a Taraflex Evolution sports sheet, a sound, stable base that could stay where it was. Leaving it in place meant no uplift, no disposal and no disruption to the subfloor underneath. That saved time and kept the job clean and contained.
On top, we laid Polyflor SaarFloor Noppe Stud Tile 1 rubber tiles. Noppe's raised stud profile gives excellent grip underfoot and stands up to heavy wear, which makes it a natural fit for busy sport and leisure spaces. Being rubber, it's also tough, resilient and easy to keep clean.
Our fitting team straight-laid 105m² of tiles. The client had a tight timescale, wanting the floor down within three to four weeks of first getting in touch, and we worked to fit the install in around that. The building had no heating during the install, so our fitters made sure the conditions were right for the tiles to go down properly.
It's a good example of how much can be done without starting from scratch. With the right product and a bit of know-how, an existing sports surface became the base for a hard-wearing new floor, with no strip-out needed.
