Flooring installation: A Multi-Phase Flooring Transformation for GMB

The GMB offices have been the site of one of our most extensive long-term commercial flooring projects — a phased refurbishment spanning several years and covering multiple areas throughout the building.

Rather than a single installation, the project was delivered in carefully planned stages, allowing work to proceed with minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of a busy trade union office. Over the course of the programme, we supplied products from leading manufacturers including Modulyss, Milliken, Hanlink, and Balsan.

The most recent phase centred on the installation of Balsan Mind Carpet Planks across 100m² of floor space, using three complementary colourways — shades 930, 960, and 999 — to create a design-led, zoned effect throughout the space. The planks were installed using a specialist design lay technique, with 50m² of subfloor feather finishing carried out beforehand to ensure a perfect base.

The project also included a complete stair solution: 33 treads were fitted with carpet tiles and Morleys HN3 Black stair nosings, delivered across two phases and providing both a professional finish and the safety performance required in a commercial environment.

This project is a great example of what a long-term supplier relationship can deliver — consistent quality, a coherent design direction across the whole building, and the confidence that comes from working with a team that knows your space inside out.
