Estate agency in Harpenden

Ashtons is an independent estate agency with a branch in Harpenden, right in the middle of the town's busy shopping street. A high street office sees a steady stream of clients through the door every day, so when the old carpet tiles started to look worn, the team wanted a fresh, hard-wearing floor that would make a good first impression.

The job covered around 80m² of office floor plus a short flight of four stairs. We started by lifting the old carpet tiles. Rather than sending them to landfill, we stacked them neatly on pallets so they could be collected and recycled.

With the concrete subfloor cleared, our team laid the new carpet tiles as a straight lay on Bostik A320 tackifier. Tackifier holds each tile firmly in place but still lets any single tile be lifted and replaced later, which is a real advantage in a busy office where a coffee spill or a scuffed patch by the door doesn't have to mean a whole new floor.

The stairs got the same tiles, finished with HN1 stair nosings fixed with Flexifix. Nosings protect the front edge of each step from wear and give a clear, defined edge underfoot, which makes the stairs both safer and longer-lasting.

The installation took place over two days, on 11 and 12 December 2025, and the project was signed off the following week, leaving the branch with a smart new floor in time for the new year.

It's a straightforward refresh done properly: old flooring lifted and recycled, a durable carpet tile laid on a release-fix adhesive, and stairs finished to last.
