A Mixed-Material Floor for Office in Leeds

An office in Leeds needed a floor that did more than one job. Their space called for hard-wearing carpet in the main working areas, a softer look in the spaces that deserved a bit of design, and a tougher surface where footfall is heaviest. We took care of the design service and the fitting.

The bulk of the floor is carpet tile from the Nouveau Ice Cream range, in two colours: Cookie Dough and Cinnamon. We fitted 163m² in a straight lay for the main areas, and 126m² in a design lay, where the two colours are worked together to give the floor some character and help define different zones in the office. The entrance gets its own matting tile, so dirt and moisture are caught before they reach the carpet.

For the areas that needed something tougher, we loose-laid 39m² of Forbo Allura 55 LVT in Light Giant Oak, a warm wood look that sits well beside the carpet colours and is easy to keep clean. Steps were finished with vinyl and Morleys hazard-insert nosings for a safer edge.

Because the carpet tiles and LVT call for different preparation, our team used a mix of Bostik adhesives, Sticky Stuff tackifier and Flexy Fix for the edging and details. The tiles hold their position, the joins stay tidy, and the whole floor is ready for years of use.

The building was empty of furniture during the works, with no out-of-hours fitting needed, so the team could get on with the job and complete it in May 2025. It's a good example of how one project can bring together design, several materials and a careful fit, all in a single visit.
