Pizza always goes down a treat in our office. But what is pizza without its toppings? Just like what are carpet tiles without their accessories?
From underlay to stair nosings your carpet tile adventure isn’t complete without them. But what accessories do you need you may ask. Well, each project is different, so we have gathered all our carpet laying knowhow so that we can give you the low down on carpet tile accessories.
Do I need underlay with my carpet tiles?” It’s a question we get asked all the time, and the answer is… it's down to personal preference. Underlay is good for when you want to dampen impact noise and enhance underfoot comfort.
Which underlay should I use?
Here at DCTUK we have two types of underlay for carpet tiles, we have underlay in carpet tile form and InstaLay underlay rolls.
Our tile underlay is expertly cut to the exact same size as all of the carpet tiles we stock (50cm x 50cm), these insulating tiles are easy to install and provide a polished and professional finish.
InstaLay underlay rolls provide acoustic and thermal benefits as well as enhanced comfort and resilience to make you feel at home wherever you are. The unique peel & stick system reduces installation time by more than 50%.
The second most asked question, Do I need to stick my carpet tiles down”. Here at DCTUK we always recommend sticking down your carpet tiles. Sticking your carpet tiles down means you reduce any risk of the carpet tiles moving and someone slipping.
The adhesive we recommend is a tackifier, which means you can easily lift the tiles back up to clean or replace them without damaging the sub-floor or tile. There are 4 different types of adhesive on our site, Spray can, TacTiles, Double Sided tape and Tubed adhesive. Spray can adhesive a quick and easy to use, mess-free application and the perfect choice for sticking carpet tiles to a whole host of surfaces including wood, concrete, stone, canvas and rubber.
Transition strips are perfect for allowing you to change from one type of flooring to another, even if they are not the same height. Transition strips help reduce the chance of trips, the range from 0mm to 10mm transitions, to 10mm to 10mm same height transition.
Different spaces require different types of flooring so you may very well have vinyl and carpet as next door neighbours. Some stylish edging will make sure the transition between the two is seamless and professional to avoid looking a little rough around the edges.
A neat, fitted edge is a must-have for doorways and spaces where different types and textures of floor overlap, and we have a wide range of selection for any job.
Nosing are also commonly known as treads and are the hard edgings you often see on stairs in commercial environments and public spaces.
Your floor is all sorted, you have all the accessories you need, but there is one last thing to go back into the room. Your furniture! From desk to chair, we have all your office needs covered. The best thing about all our furniture is Manufactured in the UK!
Now you have the ins and outs of carpet tile accessories, I think its about time to order that hard-earned pizza as a reward. Yummy :)
