How to transform a small office on a budget

Whether you’re setting up a new business or redecorating your office, your goal is to keep employees happy, impress clients and keep the cost down.

You don’t need those office slides, a pool table and bean bag chairs nobody can get out of to make your office cool and fun. Make sure your space has multiple functions and is practical for your employees. I’m sure they’d appreciate comfortable, back supporting office chairs rather than a light up jukebox.

Here are 3 tips to revamp your office on a budget:

Start with the basics

You’ll be amazed at what a fresh coat of paint does. It brightens up the room and makes it feel clean, open and light.

Think about the flooring. Do you want carpet tiles? LVT? Both? Don’t just settle for those standard grey office carpet tiles, there’s so many more options out there now. Your office flooring is a great way of incorporating your company colours into your office. The Interface Works Collection is an affordable, unique collection that could inject some fun into your office whilst still keeping it within the corporate boundaries. Don’t know where to start? Don’t worry, we can help with that. Our free design service team can create your dream floor design based on your budget.

If you’re opting for LVT but want to break it up somehow, make some rugs out of carpet tiles. You’ll save a TONNE of money because rugs are ridiculously expensive and you have so many more design options doing it this way. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to do this, our blog post has step by step instructions as well as a video for you to follow.

Think about the layout

Getting the layout of your office right is crucial depending on what your employees job roles are. If they’re in sales primarily on the phones, you’ll have to make sure they're not shouting over each other. If their role doesn’t require them to be near a phone all the time, creating a small, secluded space is great for employees concentration levels. Try these bookshelves from Ikea, they make great dividers.

Creative finishing touches

There’s one place everyone goes to for affordable finishing touches, and that place is Ikea. There’s ending inspiration, amazing products and delicious food. Plants, frames and decorations are a great way to add some character to your office space.

Got a bare wall you want fill? Why not blow up a photograph to fit the entire length of the wall. It’s relatively cheap to do and can reflect the spirit of the business.
